On June 10th, the International Woolmark Prize will be awarded to an outstanding fashion talent showcasing the beauty and versatility of Merino wool. In honor of the finalists, Solange and Saint Heron Agency have released Passage, a six-minute short film featuring Dionne Warwick, Joi, KeiyaA, Sahbabii, and more. Stream the film below.
"Passage' aligns with Saint Heron's mission to reverence creation as life, from abstraction to being," Solange said in a statement. "I’ve been a longtime fan of Wu Tsang’s work and to be able to work alongside her, the Saint Heron team, and all of the incredible artists and designers in the film, really fortifies the ethos of collaboration and communal creative exchange that we wish to continue to embody."
The film was directed by MacArthur Genius Grant recipient Wu Tsang. Gio Escobar of the New York City jazz band Standing on the Corner provides the soundtrack.
"Solange is a leader and innovator of the artworld vanguard," Joi said in a statement. "She expands her creativity and respect with each new endeavor and further solidifies her place as a bold visionary in the high art pantheon. When I was contacted about participating in this project, centering various designs of wool by the brightest minds of the diaspora in design, it was an easy "yes." Each piece, each person, and each interaction is uniquely wonderful to behold. Cross generational genius blooming is lovely and powerful to behold. It was my absolute pleasure to be included in this celebration of art, heart, and Black magnificence."
