Donald Glover Shares Unsettling 'Atlanta' Season Three Teaser, Pushes Back Against 'DAVE' Comparisons
A teaser for the much-anticipated third season of Atlanta arrived on Sunday by way of a very rare dispatch from Donald Glover on Twitter.
It was an uncommonly busy day for Donald Glover on Twitter yesterday.
In his first tweet of the year, Glover shared a link to a website with an unsettling teaser for a new season of his hit show, Atlanta. Unfortunately, if you're reading about it now, that link won't be a viable way of getting your first glimpse at the highly-anticipated third season of the series, as the site is only functional between 8pm and 3am EST (presumably?) But it got ripped, of course (see below,) and you can now watch a very eery setup for the show's next chapter, which appears to be set somewhere in Europe. The teaser closes with a confirmation of the series' return in 2022.
But the trailer wasn't all Glover had to share. He also had some thoughts on the show's comparisons to DAVE, another surrealist rap odyssey taking place on FX. In a pair of since-deleted tweets, Glover pushed back against fans claiming the two shows were in the same league. "Just for the record, im watching yall saying 'dave' is on par. like yall forgot what we did. no disrespect," Glover wrote. "We got black people on here debating which is better, and IM the sellout?" Glover asked in another tweet that disappeared pretty quickly.
Both shows have been critical darlings throughout their respective runs. Atlanta, however, has the upper hand in at least institutional praise, wracking up trophies and awards, including two Golden Globes and two Primetime Emmys.
