Peter Parker and Miles Morales Join Forces in The First Trailer for The Next Spider-Man Video Game

The Spider-Man 2 trailer was unveiled today at the Playstation Showcase event along with a number of highly-anticipated new titles for the PS5.

In a surprise reveal, Insomniac Games has announced a sequel to their wildly popular Spider-Man game for Playstation 4. And the news came with an early look at the successor, teasing a joint open-world adventure with both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.

A trailer for the conventionally titled Spider-Man 2 debuted today at the Playstation Showcase event, previewing a gorgeous CG block in New York City, the Parker/Morales tag team, and even a brief glimpse of at least one of the game's villains in resident anti-hero Venom. Fans have speculated that the Eastern European accent of the narrator is that of Kraven or Doc Ock, who is one of the several signature baddies set to return in the upcoming cap to Marvel's trilogy of Spider-Man films (out in theaters on December 17th.)

"While pushing the capabilities of the console will be very exciting, we’re equally pumped to craft all-new stories for Peter and Miles in this sequel," said Ryan Schneider, Head of Franchise Strategy & Studio Relations at Insomniac Games in a statement on the Playstation blog. Just as in our previous Spider-Man games, we not only want to tell a great Super Hero story, but also deliver a compelling human story, one full of heart and humor that dives deep into the people behind the mask," Schneider added.

Sadly, not only is the game a Playstation 5 exclusive, but you'll also have to wait until 2023 to hit the sticks with the web-slingers. However, Spider-Man 2 is one of two Marvel titles being developed by Insomniac, who also announced a new Wolverine game during today's showcase.

Watch the first trailer for Spider-Man 2 below. Hold tight for a release date to surface in the months ahead.
