Watch the First Trailer for the 'Martin' Reunion Premiering This Month
After nearly 30 years since the Martin premiere on FOX, Martin: The Reunion will stream on BET+ on June 16 featuring the original cast.
Martin is back in the house. On Thursday, June 16, a reunion for the series will stream on BET+ after 25 years since the show's finale in 1997. Hosted by comedian Affion Crockett, the special will include interviews with original cast members interviews Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold and Carl Anthony Payne II. Thomas Mikel Ford, who played Tommy on the series, died in 2016 from a ruptured abdominal aneurysm. He was 52-years-old.
“The cast will look back on the show’s most hilarious moments, revisit the iconic characters Martin made famous and pay an emotional tribute to the late, great Tommy Ford,” said BET+ in a press release. “Complete with musical performances and drop-ins by celebrity super fans, ‘Martin: The Reunion’ brings back the wazzup wazzup wazzup passion fans have been waiting for.”
As mentioned in the press statement, the reunion will feature special musical performances, behind-the-scenes commentary and surprise guest appearances, including Snoop Dogg. Martin ran from 1992 to 1997 with Snoop making a cameo in an episode, along with M.C. Hammer, The Notorious B.I.G., Brian McKnight and Keith Sweat also stopping by the show.
“To be able to sit here thirty years later with this amazing cast that has had such an impact on pop culture is truly a blessing," Lawrence said in a statement. "I am always humbled that the fans still want more of the show and its characters. I am looking forward to the reunion special.”
