Watch the Teaser for Donald Glover Co-Created Series 'Swarm'

The teaser for forthcoming Donald Glover and Janine Nabers-created series, Swarm, has dropped via Amazon Prime Video.

Forthcoming Donald Glover and Janine Nabers co-created series, Swarm, is exposing the dark side of music fandom. On Friday (February 10), a first look at the Prime Video show debuted, starring Dominique Fishback, Chloe Bailey and Damson Idris. The one-minute trailer shows protagonist Dre (Fishback), a young woman whose obsession with a pop star (à la Beyoncé) takes a dark turn. Shown in several unsettling scenes, an eerie buzzing sound plays while the question “Who's your favorite artist?” is repeated.

The SXSW logline for the show reads “Murder. Sex. Music," with Bailey playing Dre's sister Marissa, and Idris as Dre’s boyfriend. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Glover called Swarm a "post-truth Piano Teacher mixed with The King of Comedy," while Nabers, a Houston native, told TV inspiration from Mad Men’s Don Draper and The Sopranos’ Tony Soprano. What resulted was Dre, an antihero "through the lens of a Black, modern-day woman,” said Nabers.

Also in the writers room for Swarm was Malia Obama, eldest daughter of 44th United States President Barack Obama and a Harvard College Graduate.

“Dre and Marissa are in their 20s and Malia is in her 20s, so it was really great having someone like her in the room,” Nabers said. “She’s a very professional person. She’s an incredible writer and artist. We really wanted to give her the opportunity to get her feet wet in TV and see if this is something she wants to continue doing.”
