Spike Lee’s 'She’s Gotta Have It' Canceled After Two Seasons

Spike Lee is planning on pitching the show to other outlets.

Netflix has canceled Spike Lee's TV show She's Gotta Have Itafter only two seasons. This news comes only two months after Netflix premiered season two of the series to a lackluster response.

According to Variety, Lee, who directed all 19 episodes of the series, is planning on pitching the show to other outlets. She's Gotta Have It was based on the director's 1986 film debut.

Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix, said:

Spike Lee is one of the greatest filmmakers of all time and we’re thrilled he brought the series ‘She’s Gotta Have It’ (1986, based on his first feature film) to Netflix...While this is our last season, we’re very proud that it will be on our service for years to come, and excited to be working with Spike on his upcoming Netflix film Da 5 Bloods.

Lee shot the war movie Da 5 Bloods in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The movie stars Chadwick Boseman, Giancarlo Esposito, and Jean Reno.
