Chance The Rapper Called This Heineken Commercial Racist

Chance The Rapper has a lot of power

On Sunday Chance The Rapper criticized Heineken for making a racist commercial.

By Monday the beer company had apologized.

It all started on Sunday evening when Chance went to Twitter to criticize Heineken about its new commercial. The ad features a bartender passing a beer down a bar. The bar passes by a number of dark skin partygoers and ends up in the hands of a lighter skinned woman. Then the tagline "Sometimes,lighter is better" is shown.

Chance went to Twitter and speculated that companies were "purposely putting out noticeably racist ads so they can get more views:"

Newsweek reached out to Heineken, and received this statement:

For decades, Heineken has developed diverse marketing that shows theres more that unites us than divides us...While we feel the ad is referencing our Heineken Light beer we missed the mark, are taking the feedback to heart and will use this to influence future campaigns.
