Ahead of the upcoming release of Us, Peele did a video with the Wall Street Journal where he talks about the first horror film he ever saw, the best B horror movie, his favorite horror villain and more.
In regards to the first two topics, Peele reveals that The Fly was the first horror film he watched, and that Critters is the best B horror film.
Then, the conversation turns to his favorite horror villain, which is Michael Myers of the Halloween franchise.
"He's not even evil, he's just curious," Peele says of Myers. "You know you can't talk him out of whatever he wants to do and he'd always do that thing where he'd stab somebody and he's sort of turn his head like that, which is the international symbol for 'fascinating.'"
Peele also reveals who he'd choose for an Avengers assemble for horror villains, selecting Freddy Krueger, Candyman, one of the silver balls from Phantasm, Chucky, and one of the Graboids from Tremors.
Us, the follow-up to Get Out, will be premiering at this year's South by Southwest Film Festival. The movie, which finds a family's vacation stay at their beach house descend into chaos, is launching the film portion of SXSW on March 8.
Us stars Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, and Elisabeth Moss. Peele has described the follow-up to his seminal breakout film Get Out as "a monster mythology." "I wanted to do something that was more firmly in the horror genre but still held on to my love of movies that are twisted but fun," he previously told EW.
