Bad Brains' Darryl Jenifer Weighs in on Lil Uzi Vert's Stage Dive

The hardcore punk pioneer gives his thoughts on Lil Uzi Vert's momentous jump.
Back in May Lil Uzi Vert pulled off a stage dive 20 feet in the air and into a crowd at Miami's Rolling Loud Festival. The moment became viral, with people writing about the jump and making a meme out of it, too. Founding Bad Brains member Darryl Jenifer has seen a few stage dives in his time so we thought it would be fun to get his take on Uzi's infamous leap.

Speaking with Okayplayer on the night of his Mind Power art exhibition at Okay Space, Jenifer first talks about liking Migos' "Bad and Boujee," which features Uzi.
"I think it's a phat beat, I like the way they chopped it up; it reminds me of dub — hip-hop dub," Jenifer says.
He then checks out Uzi's jump for himself.

"First thing I'll tell you, my man is way too up to be doing some stage diving...this is some gimmick-type thing right here," Jenifer says. "Diving is not about how high you are, it was the energy and the excitement of the music. That's a real stage dive...that's just a commercial stage dive. Uzi Vert stop with the commercial stage dives."
Wednesday, July 26, Okay Space will be hosting an artist talk with Jenifer. The event, which you can RSVP for below, begins at 7 p.m.
