Mereba Shares New Single From Upcoming Album ‘The Breeze Grew A Fire’

The album marks the R&B singer’s first full-length solo release since 2019’s The Jungle is the Only Way Out.

Mereba has released a new song from her forthcoming album, The Breeze Grew A Fire.

The song, titled “Phone Me,” is “a song inspired by sisterhood and the strong bond that connects friendship” and “about withstanding the test of time, building trust, compassion, loyalty and dependability,” according to a press statement.

The singer also released a music video for the song, which she wrote and directed.

It follows the release of last year’s single “Counterfeit,” which the Spillage Village member used to announce her new album.

The Breeze Grew A Fire serves as the follow-up to her 2019 full-length solo debut, The Jungle is the Only Way Out.

The press statement said that Mereba’s upcoming release “is shaped by her journey into motherhood, is a tribute to healing and nostalgia, woven with themes of honoring inseparable relationships and understanding her past.”

“The album navigates Mereba's life into motherhood while also healing her inner child and honoring her Ethiopian ancestry. The music reflects a deep connection to nature, producing a fuller yet intimate sound that retains the warmth of folk and R&B that Mereba is known for,” it added.

The Breeze Grew A Fire is set to release on February 14.
