9th Wonder & Big Daddy Kane Inducted Into North Carolina Music Hall Of Fame

The acclaimed producer and rapper join other notable artists like Nina Simone and John Coltrane.

9th Wonder and Big Daddy Kane have been inducted into North Carolina's Music Hall of Fame. In a report from the Winston-Salem Journal, Wonder and Kane were inducted Thursday (October 17).

Speaking to the Journal, Wonder spoke of the importance of his parents being present during the ceremony.

"You never know how long you’re going to have your parents. For them to see me go through this, coming from where they came from on the east side of Winston-Salem, it means a lot," he said.

He also spoke of how he talked to his parents about qutting college back in 2000.

"It was a hard conversation, but she said, 'It's your life,'" he recalled. "And here we are."

Although born in New York City, Kane moved to Raleigh, North Carolina back in 2000.

"I like the laid-back feel here. I can do without the drama. Raleigh feels like home. It has before I even moved here. During the late '90s I just fell in love with this city," he once said when explaining why he moved.
