A Tribe Called Quest is Dropping an Awesome 'The Low End Theory' 30th Anniversary Boxset

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of The Low End Theory, A Tribe Called Quest and Get On Down have re-released an exclusive boxset.

A Tribe Called Quest has teamed with Get On Down to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their 1991 LP The Low End Theory. In the second run of a limited edition boxset, the full album presented on 8 small hole uniquely colored 7" records with 2 bonus tracks. Also in the boxset are five 7-inch records placed in sleeves that form the album's iconic cover with three replicas of original 12-inch singles originally released in 1991.

The 7-inch collection is contained in a deluxe, fabric-wrapped 45 singles carrying case, with 360-degree original album art and custom inner wrapped ATCQ logo graphics and group photo. For ATCQ fans that prefer rave vibes, Get On Down has also dropped a special, glow-in-the-dark edition of the album boxset.

"Originally released 31 years ago on September 24, 1991, A Tribe Called Quest's second studio album is regarded as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time," reads the boxset's descriptor. "From "Check The Rhime" to the posse cut "Scenario," the trio of Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad deliver jazzy hip-hop beats and rhymes like butter.

Earlier this year, The Low End Theory was archived in the Library of Congress, along with Wu-Tang Clan's 1993 debut Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).

“A Tribe Called Quest’s 1991 album, ‘The Low End Theory’ was the group’s second studio release and came to be seen as a definitive fusion of jazz and rap with its distinctive sound,” read a press release from the Library of Congress.
