Q-Tip made the announcement in the middle of the group's 90-minute set. According to NME, Tip interrupted "Whatever Will Be" and told the crowd:

“A Tribe Called Quest, we suffered a blow...we lost our boy Phife Dawg. This is gonna be our last show as A Tribe Called Quest, ever.”

Tip then started rapping Phife Dawg’s verse on the track.

If you've been following Tribe's festival run, this shouldn't be that surprising. During the FYF Fest, Tip announced that that was the last time Tribe was going to perform in LA. And at Panorama, Tip said there would be no more Tribe performances in New York City.

If this holds, it's a bittersweet ending for one of the greatest groups of all time. Last March, Phife Dawg died due to complications related to diabetes. In November, Tribe put out We Got It from Here... Thank You 4 Your Service, which was hailed as a classic upon the group's release.

If you ever got a chance to see Tribe live in concert...consider yourself lucky.
