The track is a tribute to TDE founder Anthony Tiffith.

Ab-Soul has officially returned with his new single “Dangerookipawaa Freestyle.”

Produced by Devin Williams, the long-awaited track features the TDE rapper sticking to his guns over a trippy beat. For those who’ve been fans of Soulo for years due to his artistry and his Longterm Mentality (2011) and Control System (2012) albums, this is a rightful return to the spotlight for him. His last full-length solo release was 2016’s Do What Thou Wilt

It’s undeniable that the song has arrived at the right time since everyone is home reflecting on what they’d like to make happen once we're allowed out of quarantine. In nearly four minutes, Ab-Soul is in rare form. He name drops Michael Jordan, Mac Miller and more through memorable euphemisms (to be clear we were expecting euphemisms).

Back in 2019, while at the Day N Vegas festival, he shared he was working on an album, he also added that it’d be dropping in 2020. Besides that, the track is mainly a tribute to Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith as today is his birthday. At the moment it’s unclear if the single is a part of a larger project set to release from Ab-Soul.

We’ll be eagerly awaiting more work from Soulo, an album would actually be ideal. His unconventional sound paired with his ability to express his thoughts on America’s politics can’t be denied. Take a listen to “Terrorist Threats” off Control System, it’s a bit eerie given the global COVID-19 pandemic.
