Friday's set of new releases has brought the anticipated return of Action Bronson. The Queens MC released Only for Dolphins, his first project in nearly a year. His last full-length release was the November 2019 collaboration with The Alchemist, Lamb Over Rice. The new project includes features from Hologram, Yung Mehico, and Meyhem Lauren.
Two weeks ago, Bronson described the thought process behind the title in a press release.
“The dolphin is one of the most intelligent creatures ever created on whatever planet we’re on,” he said. “They have their own way of communicating. They have nuance and intangibles like we do. The only people who understand me are those five-tool players, those higher beings who are on the same telepathic wave as me.”
Bronson is also releasing "Splash," a signature fragrance along with the album, in addition to stuffed dolphins and his own ice cream flavor and ice cream cake. The confectionary line, burnt guava and marshmallow tres-leches flavored, is in collaboration with Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream.“I get inspiration from all around the world,” Bronson explained, “and I make what I want, I wanted to make sure that I hit everything on this project. We’re giving you the auditory. We’re giving you the visual. The olfactory. Your taste buds. There isn’t a physical sensation that Only for Dolphins doesn’t cover.”
In recent weeks, Bronson has dropped the strongman competition-inspired video for "Latin Grammys" and the audio for "Golden Eye."
