Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad have released a new compilation album, Jazz is Dead 001.
Sharing a name and launch date with a new label from the Midnight Hour duo and ArtDontSleep founder, Andrew Lojero, the compilation expands on a live event series founded by Lojero and the producers in Los Angeles, pairing them with heavily-sampled American and Brazilian jazz royals on drool-worthy bills.

On the imprint's debut release, Younge and the A Tribe Called Quest producer compose original tracks with Roy Ayers, Gary Bartz, Brian Jackson, Azymuth, Marcos Valle and more, taking hip-hop's obsession with spiritual jazz and bossa to stratospheric heights. It follows their self-titled 2018 debut and a live album released last year.
