3000's appearance at Lake Merritt comes shortly after the controversial incident that occurred where a white woman called the police on a black family for BBQing.
Two weeks ago, Kenzie Snider was setting up a grill in the park when the unknown woman began to harass him and his family.
"She said that we were trespassing, we were not welcome, and then she turned back around and said, 'y'all going to jail,'" Smith said.
Upon arrival, police took statements from both parties, who each claimed they were being harassed by the other. A police report was filed, but no arrests were made and nobody was given a citation. Following the incident, a BBQing While Black event took place, where notable figures such as political activist Angela Davis were seen.
Recently, 3000 released two new songs on Mother's Day. The songs — "Me & My (To Bury Your Parents)" and "Look Ma No Hands" — were a part of an EP titled Look Ma No Hands.
