Watch The Beastie Boys Discuss Adam Yauch Stage-Crashing Aerosmith & The Origins Of The Band's Name On 'Fallon'

Aerosmith's Joe Perry wasn't into it at all.

The Beastie Boys' Beastie Boys Book is now officially out and the remaining members recently took to Jimmy Fallon to talk about it.

Mike D and Ad-Rock both appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Wednesday night, where they talked about the book, as well as shared other stories about the group and the late Adam Yauch.

There were two notable stories the pair shared about Yauch. The first one was about how he stage-crashed an Aerosmith performance while the rap group was on tour with Run-D.M.C. The Beastie Boys were opening up for D.M.C. around the time their Aerosmith collab track "Walk This Way" was a hit. Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry were scheduled to perform the song alongside D.M.C. during a show in Miami and the late Jam Master Jay had volunteered to play bass on the song.

"So the song starts, people go crazy and then Yauch runs out with this bass," Ad-Rock said. "You just look at the Aerosmith guys and they're like, 'Who is this guy?' And then all of a sudden he goes up to Joe Perry and is trying to go back-to-back with him, like a rock guitar player. And Joe Perry was like, you could see him very uncomfortable and Yauch was chasing him around, running around backwards trying to play guitar."

Ad-Rock also told the story of how Yauch pulled an intricate prank on him that involved a ring a strange fan gave him.

"This guy kind of cornered me," Ad-Rock recalled. "He just looked odd. He had, like, big, huge teeth and really long arms. He cornered me and he said: 'I really want you to have my ring.'"

The artist ended up taking the ring and placed it on a shelf and forgot about it. But then the ring mysteriously appeared in a bag of Ad-Rock as he was heading to a show in DC and reappeared once again in that bag in 2007.

"I go to my backpack and the ring's in there. So I was freaking out," he said.

He then revealed that about a week later, Yauch revealed he had been pranking Ad-Rock the entire time.

"Yauch pulled me aside on tour and went: 'Hey man, I put that ring in your bag.' But it was 15 years later," Ad-Rock said.

Elsewhere during their Fallon appearance, Mike D shared the story behind the band's name, revealing it's an acronym for "boys, entering anarchistic states towards inner excellence."

"It was a stupid name," he added.
