Benny The Butcher Shot During Attempted Robbery in Houston

The Griselda rapper is reportedly being treated for the wound at a local hospital.

Benny The Butcher was shot in an attempted robbery in Houston on Sunday.

According to TMZ, the rapper was parked with friends outside of a Walmart when a group of armed men pulled up in a car and demanded their jewelry. It's unclear whether they complied, but one of the men opened fire on Benny, shooting him once in the leg. The report notes both groups scattered after the shot was fired, but Benny's car reportedly pulled over not long after to call the police.

After being treated for the wound at a local hospital in Houston, Benny posted a video of himself boarding a private jet--on crutches.

Westside Gunn later posted of him reclining in a chair, leg wrapped in gauze. It looks as though he's progressing well on the road to recovery. The suspects remain at large, but an investigation is underway.

Last month, the Buffalo rapper released the star-studded album, Burden of Proof. Produced entirely by Hit-Boy, the project featured appearances from Freddie Gibbs, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Big Sean, and Dom Kennedy, along with his Griselda comrades, Westside Gunn and Conway The Machine. He also co-presented with DJ Drama the debut project from his Black Soprano Family collective and dished out a grip of bruising guest verses on some of the year's biggest albums, including The Price of Tea in China and Alfredo.

Benny's altercation marks the week's third high-profile shooting of a rapper in Texas. On Wednesday, Dallas rapper Mo3 was shot in his hometown while sitting in his car alongside I-35. He died on Friday from injuries sustained during the shooting. And just last night, Louisiana's Boosie Badazz was also shot in the leg while sitting in his car a day after attending a vigil for Mo3 in Dallas the night before, according to Dallas-Fort Worth's Fox 4. His injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

Hold tight for updates on Benny The Butcher's condition in the hours ahead.
