Cardi B Plans Return With New Single "Hot Shit"

On Sunday, Cardi B went to social media and teased new single "Hot Shit," her first solo track in over a year since the release of "Up."

Cardi B is back with "Hot Shit." While the BET Awards 2022 got underway on Sunday night, the rapper went to social media to tease her first solo single since the release of "Up" last year. "Hot Shit" will release on Friday, July 1.

Earlier this month, the Whipshots co-founder went to Twitter cleared up speculation about album setbacks.

“I really had technical difficulties with my latest project. I had not one, not two, but like three technical difficulties on the music that I’ve been working on,” she explained, per Billboard. “[That] had to be done and taken care of before I put it out. When things come out, that’s when I’mma talk about it.”

On Monday (June 27), Cardi gave fans a follow-up surprise, unveiling that "Hot Shit" features Kanye West and Lil Durk. Ye and Cardi are both Balenciaga ambassadors, likely contibuting to their first collaboration.

Last Tuesday (June 21), Cardi released a clip with a mashup of her various music videos, giving fans a warning that she plans to "stomp this time around."

Over four years have passed since the release of Cardi's 2018 debut album Invasion of Privacy, which featured Kehlani, Chance the Rapper, YG, Migos, 21 Savage, Bad Bunny, J Balvin and SZA. Invasion of Privacy was the first female rap album to be nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards, winning award for Best Rap Album during the 61st GRAMMY Awards.

Since the release of Invasion of Privacy, Cardi has went on to collaborate with Lizzo ("Rumors"), Megan Thee Stallion ("WAP"), Normani ("Wild Side"), Summer Walker and SZA ("No Love" Remix) and more.
