Last Saturday, the festival's sister event Lollapalooza Argentina was held, with headliner Doja Cat pausing her set for five minutes while it appeared that one attendee was in distress. While performing "Options" from her latest album, Planet Her, the rapper directed that her sound be cut during her set at Hippodromo de San Isidro in Buenos Airesper Billboard.
“You guys over there in that circle that just signaled to me, when everything’s OK, you just go like this,” Doja Cat said. “Just do that, OK? Just wave," Doja Cat said. "If it’s not OK, then don’t do anything. But once it’s OK, just do something with your hands like this. I’m sorry, I can’t keep going if things aren’t good.”
In 2021, Chicago offered free one-day passes to last year's Lollapalooza, encouraging residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Being one of the first music festivals to return during the pandemic, Chicago's Department of Public Health commissioner shared that there was no evidence that the estimated 385,000-person festival was a “‘super-spreader’ event” and didn't have any “substantial impact to Chicago’s COVID-19 epidemiology,” according to Pitchfork.
Last year also marked the 30th anniversary of Lollapalooza, where headliners included Tyler, the Creator, Post Malone, and Megan Thee Stallion.
Priced from $350 to $4,200, four-day tickets for 2022 festival are available now on their website. One-day tickets will be available at a later date.
