Dr. Dre & Marsha Ambrosius Are Getting Ready to Release an Album Together
Dr. Dre and Marsha Ambrosius are getting ready to release a new album.
Dr. Dre is a busy man. A month after inducting honoree LL Cool J into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the legendary rapper-producer took to Instagram to post a behind-the-scenes selfie with an orchestra in a recording studio. In the post, he announced he's releasing an album with longtime collaborator Marsha Ambrosius.
"I just finished recording an album with Marsha Ambrosius. “Casablanco” I had a blast!! This is some of my best work!!" he captioned.
Donning a Wu-Tang tee, Ambrosius posted a black and white picture alongside Dr. Dre with a similar caption. Casablanco will be the singer's latest effort since her third album Nyla, released in 2018 and titled after her daughter.
According to HipHopDX, Casablano violinist Eric Gorfain shared more about the album on his Instagram Stories, recounting that he spent the summer arranging strings for the album.
While there hasn't been a confirmed release date for Casablanco, the album marks the latest collaboration between Dr. Dre and Ambrosius since Compton on several tracks including "Darkside/Gone," "Satisfiction," "All in a Day's Work," and "Genocide."
Although Dr. Dre recently been in the news for his long-brewing divorce battle with ex-wife Nicole Young, the announcement of Casablanco comes just in time for his co-headlined 2022 Superbowl Halftime show. Joining the stage with Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar in February, the Pepsi Halftime show will be held at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, where the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers will face-off in the championship game.
While the announced halftime show has received mixed responses due to Colin Kaepernick's protest, the Roc Nation-produced halftime performance is sure to bring attention for its historic lineup.
