Earl Sweatshirt Drops A Guest Verse on Drakeo the Ruler's "Ion Rap Beef"

The Los Angeles MC is awaiting trial on gang conspiracy charges.

Earl Sweatshirt fans got a surprise gift on Monday afternoon. The reclusive MC dropped his long-awaited take on Drakeo the Ruler and 03 Greedo's "Ion Rap Beef."

Earl has been pretty quiet after releasing the Feet of Clay EP in November 2019. Before releasing the tape, he posted his support of Drakeo on Twitter. Earl most recently produced "sense," from Charlotte rapper MAVI's album Let the Sun Talk.

Drakeo the Ruler's case has made headlines over the last year. A lengthy Fader report by Jeff Weiss details the trial--in which prosecutors repeatedly use his lyrics and music videos as evidence against him. After a jury found him not guilty of murder and attempted murder charges, he still awaits trial on two charges of criminal gang conspiracy and shooting from a motor vehicle. If convicted, he faces 25 years to life in prison.

According to Complex, 03 Greedo will be eligible for parole in September 2020. Greedo is currently serving a 20-year sentence in a Texas prison on drug trafficking charges.

While waiting for his trial, Drakeo released a 14-track collection project titled Free Drakeo on the date of his latest hearing. Since then, the judge strengthened the gag order on him, forcing him to delete tweets with the phrase "free Drakeo" on his Twitter timeline. After the Coronavirus postponed jury selection, the judge rescheduled it to late April.
