Erykah Badu, Jill Scott Streaming Numbers Have Tripled After Their Verzuz Battle
Over the weekend, the two combined for 6.7 million total streams nationwide.
The Verzuz effect is alive and well. Over the weekend, over 700,000 people watched Erykah Badu and Jill Scott face off in the latest Verzuz battle. The total topped the 525,000 who tuned in to watch Teddy Riley and Babyface square off. On Thursday, Billboard broke down the battle's impact on streaming numbers.
According to the report, Badu and Jill Scott boosted their numbers immensely. On Thursday and Friday preceding the battle, the two combined for 2.1 million streams of their total song catalogs. On Saturday and Sunday, after the battle, their full catalogs reeled in 6.7 million streams across America.
Badu's 1997 debut single "On & On" was her most successful track, in terms of streaming. The song's streams increased 129% after the battle. Streams of "Next Lifetime," "Didn't Cha Know," and "Bag Lady" increased 341%, 172%, and 177% respectively. "Other Side of the Game" rounded out the top five with a 168% increase.
For Jilly from Philly, "A Long Walk" saw the highest streaming increase. The track rose 232% after the battle. "The Way," "He Loves Me," "Crown Royal," and "Gettin in the Way" rounded out the top five. Those tracks saw 195%, 221%, 607%, and 485% increases, respectively.
