Erykah Badu Will Host Livetstream Event in Support of Liv.e's New Album
Erykah Badu will be supporting her friend and protége Liv.e.
It's no secret that Erykah Badu is a big fan of Dallas newcomer Liv.e. Now the two are collaborating on a special livestream. On Thursday, July 30, 2020 Erykah Badu will host a streaming event in support of Liv.e's new album Couldn’t Wait To Tell You…, which comes out on Friday, July 31st.
The streaming party will go down on Badu's official website, Badu World Market. In a press release, Badu wrote Liv.e and why she decided to put together this livestream for Liv.e.
“What better artist to highlight as an extension of what I am creating...I’ve known Liv as family since forever. She was this young shy, creative girl who found her way into my heart. We graduated from the same arts high school years apart. Liv is of the same tribe...I can’t wait to see her do her thang.”
This won't be the first time Badu has livestreamed during COVID-19 quarantine. Badu had her own interactive streaming platform, called The Quarantine Concert Series: Apocalypse, Live From Badubotron. She has had three, charging fans a small fee each time. With that, fans could decide what songs they wanted to hear next. It seemed to have been a success; according to what a spokesperson told the New York Times, over 100,000 people watched.
In that same NYTimes article, Badu gave her insight into the future of streaming. Badu said she is tired of touring and wants to find a way to turn this into a business:
"Maybe a monthly fee is better than a one-time fee. It’s very important for us to be focused and organized right now, and also having places to release feelings of guilt and the feelings of suppression and pain and distance. And a lot of those things are released through music. Just creating the right vibration around the market will help people understand why it’s valuable to us at all."
Check in for the livestream on July 30th at 7 pm EST.
