Alabama Rapper Flo Milli Drops Debut Mixtape 'Ho, Why Is You Here?'
The 20-year-old female rapper has officially dropped her debut mixtape filled with aggressive, sex-positive lyrics.
Throughout the summer Alabama rapper Flo Milli has been expertly making a name for herself. Today, she unveils her debut mixtape Ho, Why Is You Here? This entire year has been a breeding ground for talent to snatch up relevance and new fans, she emerged right on time.
The RCA signee began garnering traction when she dropped her track “Beef FloMix” back in 2019. This release features an easygoing beat and Flo Milli rapping slowly with a dash of Southerness. “Beef FloMix” would eventually go viral on TikTok, thousands of platform users created original videos. Following that success, her next single “In The Party” also trended heavily on TikTok. Her punchy, aggressive bars on this track pushed her on somewhat of a pedestal in the hip-hop community.
On Ho, Why Is You Here? Flo Milli makes a case for the roster of female rappers from the South that have been unleashing consistent content over the past few years. That includes City Girls, Megan Thee Stallion, and Yung Baby Tate.
“Weak” which is equipped with a sample from SWV’s mega-hit of the same name is perhaps the most unique track on the mixtape. She managed to flip the R&B track and make it her own, this wasn’t a small feat. Additional standouts on the project include “Pockets Bigger,” “Like That Bitch,” “19” and “Send The Addy.”
On the release of her debut mixtape via email, Flo shares: “This project is introducing a revamped newer me. A newer version of myself that I’m still discovering,” she said. “This phase of me comes with an ego and an attitude. This is setting the tone for what I have to come in the future, I want everyone to feel the energy I’m coming with.”
In total, her debut epitomizes where female hip-hop is headed. Though she’s only 20, Flo Milli passionately shares a glimpse into her sex-positive and amusing life. Ho, Why Is You Here? serves as a wake-up call to the industry, we have a feeling she's gearing up for stardom.
