Ocean comes out on top of a suit dating back to a 2016 Tumblr post

In the wake of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando (at the time, the deadliest mass-shooting in modern American history) Frank Ocean sent up a prayer for the heartless and hateful, recounting the first time his father made him aware of otherness, pulling him out of a diner after cursing their transgendered waitress.

He gave full detail in the only place you could occasionally hear from him in a pre-blond(e)d world: his Tumblr page. In the month that followed, Ocean's father, Calvin Cooksey, filed a lawsuit against his son for defamation, claiming that Ocean's statement "damaged his financial opportunities in film and music," seeking $14.5 million in compensatory damages.

Today, according to Law360, Ocean has emerged victorious in a case that his lawyer, Keith Bremer, dubbed "super sad." In a statement to Pitchfork, Bremer empathized with his client: "I am sorry that my client had to go through this and am glad that we could bring closure."
