Seasoned beatmakers and DJs have had it better than most in quarantine. With their arsenal of machines and software presumably within short reach, staying productive (or at least, distracted,) is as easy as hitting a switch on their weapon of choice. But what about the rest of us?
For those hoping to make use of some of that newly acquired time at home to learn how to make their own chopped and sequenced suites, look no further. According to CDM, a newly-surfaced MPC2000XL emulator models the legendary drum machine's full range of functions, including sampling, programming, and exporting in a range of audio formats (APS, ALL, PGM, SND, MID, WAV.) What's more, those who own the hardware can ditch the SCSI and SD card and import project files directly to the emulator and continue their work offline. And if you're a DAW-based producer, the emulator can also be used as a plugin (VST2, VST3, and AU,) to offer new(ish) workflow options.
