Future to Produce the Soundtrack for the Upcoming 'Superfly' Remake

Are movie soundtracks back?
A remake of the 1972 classic Superfly is currently being developed. According to Deadline, the movie is going to be directed by Director X. Singer Trevor Jackson and Straight Outta Compton star Jason Mitchell have already signed on as stars.
Here are where things get interesting: rap star Future is set to produce the film, alongside Joel Silver. He is also set to curate the movie's soundtrack.

Future has some big shoes to fill. The original Superfly soundtrack was performed by legend Curtis Mayfield, and included all-time classics like "Pusherman," "Freddie's Dead," and the album's title track.

Director X released a statement about the film, saying:
I want to honor it in a way that shows a new generation how black culture continues to be a catalyst for new trends in every area, from fashion to music. Im also excited to be working with Future, both on the music and as a producer of the film the original soundtrack is legendary, and thats an inspiration for the artists that Future is working with to bring a singular modern musical vision to the film.
On Tuesday, Director X put up a couple of photos on his Instagram showing off the cast.
