HBO has released the official trailer for an upcoming documentary on Harlem's iconic Apollo Theater.
Aptly titled, The Apollo, the documentary is directed by Roger Ross Williams, who won in an Oscar in 2010 for the short film, Music by Prudence. The trailer features archival clips of performances from Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Lauryn Hill, and Queen Latifah, as well as interviews with, but not limited to, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Pharrell, and Angela Bassett. According to a synopsis, the film "chronicles the unique history and contemporary legacy of the New York City landmark."
The Apollo premieres on HBO on November 6th, following its Tribeca Film Festival debut in February. Watch the official trailer below.
