Hear the New Navy Blue Single "Chosen"
His debut single on Def Jam Recordings, Los Angeles rapper Navy Blue has released "Chosen," produced by Budgie.
Navy Blue has returned with his Def Jam Recordings debut single. On Friday (March 10), the Los Angeles native, legal name Sage Elsesser released new song "Chosen," which follows his 2021 album Navy's Reprise. The following year, the rapper dropped three physical-only projects, Gift of Gabriel: Rain’s Reign!, Crypt of Carlos: Onward!, and Arc of Atreyu: Neverending!. More recently, the 26-year-old made a guest appearance on Wiki and Subject 5's "One More Chance" from their 2022 Cold Cuts mixtape.
"Chosen" is slated to be on the tracklist of Elsesser's forthcoming album, With Ways of Knowing.
Also a skateboarder and producer, Elsesser appeared on 2022 songs from Babeheaven ("Make Me Wanna"), Quelle Chris ("So Tired You Can't Stop Dreaming"), Nicholas Craven ("Anchor") and Domo Genesis ("Skeletons").
While in conversation with Earl Sweatshirt for i-D in December, Elsesser explained his reason for pursuing a career in rap.
"It was a little hobby I had. I had been making beats forever; I’ve been rapping forever too but I never really honed into it," he said. "I got extremely depressed when I was eighteen – I was depressed all through my teenage years, and out of that birthed Navy Blue. Hopefully, this chapter will end soon and I’ll move on to something different; a different name or something. I eventually want to go by Sage."
