UPDATE: Big Boi has shared how he learned about Outkast trending on Twitter as a result of people comparing Earthgang to the ATLiens rap duo.
During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, the rapper said that it all began with his son FaceTiming him.
"He was like 'I thought something happened to you...you're trending on Twitter,'" Big Boi recounted. "...Some white b**ch had said something, they killing that broad." Big Boi's son was referring to YesJulz, who tweeted on Tuesday that "Earthgang is like the OutKast of this generation only with two Andre's." The discussion surrounding the comparison comes around the 1:58 mark of the video.

Earthgang has since taken to Instagram to acknowledge the comparisons.
Earthgang recently released their major label debut album Mirrorland and although the pair have endured Outkast comparisons for the past two years, those comparisons have since resurfaced following Mirrorland's release.

The comparison between the two Atlanta rap duos started trending on Twitter after YesJulz tweeted the following: "Earthgang is like the OutKast of this generation only with two Andre's. I'm so here for it."

The comparison not only resulted in criticism because of Big Boi's omission (which led some to view the tweet as disrespecting Big Boi's contributions to the beloved rap duo), but incited a discussion on the two rap groups.
“setting aside the extremely obvious fact that neither of these guys is andre, this misses the point that the ENTIRE IDEA of outkast was that it wasn’t two dres”— pxt (@pxt) 1568143266

Since then, Earthgang has taken to Instagram to speak on the comparisons.
"To be compared to legends is a humbling honor," the group wrote. "But know that we’re blazing our OWN path for the next ones out of Atlanta."
A couple of years ago, Big Boi spoke about the possibility of a new Outkast album.
"I'm always open. I'm always open. So when plans and stars align one day…you never know," he said previously,
