Fans Suspect a New Kendrick Lamar Album is Imminent After Six Songs Leak
Speculation over the next Kendrick Lamar album reaches fever pitch with a new batch of leaked tracks.
A few months back, Kendrick Lamar revealed his next album was not only en route, but would mark his final project for longtime label, Top Dawg Entertainment. Though a date was never mentioned, Lamar's appearance on a handful of songs from the new Baby Keem album sparked rumors that his TDE finale was closer to release than he'd like us to believe.
And now, fans seem convinced Lamar's DAMN. follow-up is just around the corner, pointing to six previously unheard tracks that reportedly leaked on Spotify of all places, but were quickly removed. Fans also noticed the rapper's photo on the streamer had been updated, which only brought the speculation to a fever pitch. Most of the songs have been wiped from the web, but some are still floating around if you know where to look. Paired with a headlining performance at Day N Night Festival in Las Vegas and Lamar's upcoming appearance alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem, at the Super Bowl LVI halftime show, there might just be more than speculation to this particular round of chatter.
That said, Kendrick Lamar fans are no strangers to chasing leaks. Last year, a similar wave of anticipation formed when three unreleased songs surfaced and then vanished in a flash in early September of 2020. But with the rapper himself seemingly warming fans up for his last outing with Top Dawg, we're probably not that far out from an official announcement. "As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years. The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling. There’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts. I’ve prayed for you all. See you soon enough," Lamar wrote in a message to fans.
Suppose we'll just have to wait and see what "soon enough" actually means.
