Kendrick Lamar Will Headline the 2023 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival
Kendrick Lamar will co-headline this year's Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, which takes place on June 15 to 18.
Kendrick Lamar is taking his "Hood Beethoven" performance Down South. On Tuesday (January 10), Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival announced that the Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers artist will co-headline the festival, held on Thursday, June 15 to Sunday, June 18 at the Bonnaroo Farm in Manchester, Tennessee. Also performing throughout the weekend are Lil Nas X, Baby Keem, Three Six Mafia, 070 Shake, JID and more. Select performances from the 2023 iteration of the Tennessee festival will air on Hulu.
Although Lamar concluded The Big Steppers Tour in December, Bonnaroo continues his 2023 festival schedule, which features stops in Europe's Primavera Sound and Open'er Festival in Poland. Bonaroo's 2023 lineup will also be presented on "10 unique stages over the four-day festival" with performances taking place "through the night and into early morning with special sunrise sets," per the festival's press statement.
The Big Steppers Tour, which began last June in Milan, was accompanied by a concert film via Amazon Studios, filmed at the Accor Arena in Paris. Lamar, who's nominated for eight 2023 Grammy Award categories, last spoke about his recent tour in a New York Times profile with pgLang co-founder Dave Free.
“Now incorporate that with dance and art, and you get this contextualized, theatrical type of performance. That’s what it built into. Then you put it all in the platform, all on the deck. It feels like a theatrical hip-hop show, and not the corny [expletive].”
