Knxwledge Remixes Sleeper R&B Classics on New 'HX.PRT15.8_' Mixtape
Featuring twisted flips of songs from Destiny's Child, Hi-Five, Davina, Deborah Cox and more.
Never one to step away for too long, Knxwledge has returned with a pair of new tapes to celebrate another run of Bandcamp Friday.
Two series (of his several long-running themed batches,) have new chapters today with VGM welcoming a sixth tape and HexualSealings gaining a 29th(!?) edition. On the former (and most recently launched of his beat tape series,) Knxwledge deconstructs and rebuilds a collection of obscure and instantly-recognizable cuts from a range of video game scores spanning multiple decades. But on his latest HX tape, the producer slips back into a soulful mode, stitching sleeper r&b classics from Destiny's Child ("Girl,") Hi-Five ("Quality Time,") Davina ("So Good,") Deborah Cox (Nobody's Supposed to Be Here,") and more into micro-chopped suites.
The double-headed drop arrives exactly a month since his last transmission, which featured a new WrapTaypes outing with remixes of songs from Mobb Deep, DaBaby, the late Pop Smoke and more. His non-Bandcamp output has been just as stellar in 2020. In April, the producer released his sophomore studio album, 1988, featuring Durand Bernarr, Rose Gold, and a NxWorries reunion with Anderson .Paak (who recently revealed a new project from the duo was in the works.) And over the summer, former Slave frontman, Steve Arrington, released his solo Stones Throw debut, featuring nearly the entirety of the label's roster of producers, including J. Rocc, Mndsgn, Jerry Paper, and Knx, who contributed a pair of beats to the album.
Hear Knxwledge remix a batch of sleeper r&b classics on his new mixtape below. Head over to his Bandcamp page to stream the new installment of his VGM series (along with more than 100 other projects from the producer.) Hold tight for his next dispatch in the weeks and months ahead.
