Lee Daniels says Cardi B came to fame after auditioning for him.
In a recent interview, director Lee Daniels claims he had a role in Cardi B's rise to fame.
On an episode of TMZ’s Raq Rants, host Raquel Harper asked Daniels who his favorite rapper was, and he mentioned Cardi, then proceeded to tell the story about how they met. “My favorite Hip Hop artist right now, today, is Cardi B,” Daniels said. “She came to my Instagram. You can dig deep into my Instagram — dig deep! I was looking for somebody for Star and she came in to audition for me and I said, ‘Do you mind if I,’ — this before she got on the reality show, even before the reality show. Mona told me she hired her from [looking at] my Instagram.”
The Instagram post he's referring to dates back three years ago.
Daniels also claims Producer Mona Scott hired Cardi for "Love & Hip-Hop" after seeing Daniels' post.
