Sitting shoulder-to-shoulder against the safety yellow backdrop, Phonte and Big Pooh picked apart lyrics on "Black Magic (Make It Better)," off the group's first album in 16 years, May The Lord Watch, and underscored some of the track's hidden jabs at performative activism and fairweather fandom.

But it wasn't all bar biopsy. While discussing his competitive streak, Pooh revealed how the group once met Michael Jordan -- draped in a crushed burgundy velvet smoker's jacked and, of course, his beloved boot-cut denim -- and his fairly-complected groupies at an afterparty where DJ Premier was on the ones and twos.
