Little Brother Documentary Part Two
Watch How Little Brother Reunited in New Mini-Documentary 'Homecoming'
Little Brother is back.
Last year, Phonte, Rapper Big Pooh, and 9th Wonder reunited.
At the 2018 Art of Cool Festival, Little Brotherperformed together for the first time in a decade. It was a highlight of the year. Also, a surprise: for years fans wondered if a reunion would ever actually happen.
It did, and now here's the story of how it happened.
On Monday, August 12th, The North Carolina Arts Council released a short documentary about the reunion called Homecoming. The documentary was premiered on HipHopDX.
In the documentary, the three detailed how difficult it was getting all three to come together. One of the more interesting tidbits is that the driving force was Questlove, who was trying to get the group back together behind the scenes.
Another interesting thing revealed is that the death of Phife Dawg had a huge impact on the group. Pooh talks about texting Phonte:
Yo man, whether we speak again or become close again or whatever — it doesn’t matter. I just wanted to let you know, you’ll always be my brother. I love you.’ And he ended up responding back. He was like, ‘Yo. I love you too…,’ whatever-whatever, ‘Let’s get on the phone.’ And he called me. And we ended up talking for about four hours.
