Do you think you can rap better than Freddie Gibbs? Now is your chance to prove yourself. Seven months after Freddie Gibbs and Madlib released their excellent Bandanaalbum, the duo dropped BandanaBeats, an album that features instrumentals of all the songs on the album.
Not only can you stream BandanaBeats on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube you can also cop the album on vinyl. The always mysterious Madlib has given a good amount of interviews since Bandanna was released. However, he hasn't talked a lot about the process of how he makes some of his production.
The closest he got came in a couple of tweets he sent out a couple of days after the album dropped. Madlib revealed that he made the beats for Bandanaon his iPad:
“I made all of the beats for Bandana on my iPad.”— Madlib (@Madlib) 1561843724
“Some of these niggas mad lmao. I’m gonna keep making good music I like. I’m gonna keep doin my thing till i’m 90. i’m gonna keep getting better. That iPad remark was just to say stop making excuses - use a tape deck if necessary. Technology is what you make it.”— Madlib (@Madlib) 1561960332
This is the second new drop to come from Madlib this month. A couple of weeks ago Madlib and his younger brother Oh No released their first collaborative album together as The Professionals, via The Beat Konductas Madlib Invazion imprint.
