WATCH: Madlib Toast to Bandana with a Tour of a World-Class Champagne Vineyard
Throughout their two-hour chat, the trio of legendary record collectors trade tales of impossible finds and spending time with the musicians that inspired them, while spinning selections from their respective catalogs. They also discuss the generational ties between hip-hop and jazz, praising Horace Silver and Roy Ayers for their widely unheralded contributions in the sampling era. And though the bulk of the episode is comprised cuts from jazz and hip-hop giants, the group drops pearls throughout, including what Madlib learned from the late Weldon Irvine, the young MCs he's currently working with, and how the Bandana producer intends to keep up the output over the next few years.
