Metro Boomin Calls Russ "Whack in Spirit" After He Insults Producers
If Young Metro don't trust you...
It seems Metro Boominand Russ aren't seeing eye to eye when it comes to the current state of hip-hop. The 24-year-old Atlanta producer criticized the 25-year-old New Jersey rapper over the weekend after Russ attributed the plight of hip-hop to "producers making whack shit."
Russ's comment appeared in a VladTV interview from January 2017.
“People think that you blame the rappers for the state of hip-hop,” Russ said in the interview. “Rappers are not making the music. You gotta blame the producers. Producers are making whack shit. If a producer…If all I do is rap, I’m a vocalist. If a producer sends me a pack of 20 beats, and they’re all whack and they all sound the same, I’m just fucked. I gotta pick the best of the worst.”

Though over a year later, Metro didn't take too kindly to those words, defending his fellow producers while denouncing Russ by posting a photo of himself holding up a "Russ is whack" sign. He then took to twitter on Saturday to elaborate.
“and by whack I mean whack in spirit.. haven’t heard any music to come to that conclusion.”— Metro Boomin (@Metro Boomin) 1524359391
He also retweeted Montreal producer Kizzy's critique of Russ, stating "I lost all respect for @russdiemon blaming producers for todays sound?... You gonna blame metro, illmind, southside, sounwav, elite, dre, etc for all this? Sure maybe a specific person but not everyone."

Russ has yet to comment, but with his track record, he probably won't waste much time proffering another controversial rap opinion.
