Nas & 21 Savage Both Wear the "Relevant" Crown on New Song "One Mic, One Gun"
Two weeks after 21 Savage declared Nas "not relevant," the two rappers have released surprise collaboration "One Mic, One Gun."
Nas and 21 Savage have called a truce on their new collaboration "One Mic, One Gun." Both rappers have had huge album releases this month, 21 Savage with Drake-assisted LP Her Loss and Nas, real name Nasir Jones, and Hit-Boy with King's Disease III. 21 Savage, possibly emboldened by the success of Her Loss, discussed the "relevance" of older rappers on Clubhouse shortly after KD3 dropped, dismissing Jones.
“He’s not relevant, he just has a loyal ass fan base…and he still make good-ass music," 21 Savage said of Jones on Clubhouse. The Atlanta-raised rapper would later attempt to clarify his statement in a tweet.

While Jones didn't respond to 21 Savage's slight, his longtime collaborator Hit-Boy spoke about it on Power 106 Los Angeles.
“Even take like the 21 Savage thing. I just feel like that’s a part of King’s Disease,” Hit-Boy said. “How do you look at a Black hip-hop artist, legendary guy, who just won his first Grammy a couple years ago, right…just put four critically-acclaimed albums.”
Jones earned his first-ever Grammy Award in 2021 for Best Rap Album (King's Disease).
On "One Mic, One Gun," both rappers give each other props, with 21 Savage name-dropping the King's Disease series and calling Jones "Escobar the Don." Jones returns with referencing his N.Y. State of Mind Tour with Wu-Tang Clan and crowning both him and 21 Savage as "two kings."
