Nas is celebrating the upcoming 25th anniversary of his second album It Was Written with an expanded digital edition of the album, as well as a limited edition anniversary bundle.
Nas is about to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his second album, It Was Written, in a big way. The rapper will be releasing an expanded digital edition of the album, as well as a limited edition anniversary bundle, too.
With the expanded digital edition of It Was Written comes the release of two songs that have been previously unavailable on streaming services: "Silent Murder" and "Street Dream" (Bonus Verse). As for the limited edition anniversary bundle, it's a physical release that includes "a 2LP Silver & Clear Galaxy Effect colored vinyl edition housed in a gatefold jacket and an old-school cassette with an original 8 panel J-Card featuring full lyrics housed in a custom slip case," and "a colored 7" vinyl single (A-Side/B-Side Effect with Silver & Black) of 'The Message' b/w 'Street Dreams' (extended version) housed in a custom picture jacket," according to a press release. You can pre-order the bundle here. The bundles are expected to ship some time in September.
Adding to the anniversary celebration, the music videos for "If I Ruled The World (Imagine That)" and "Street Dreams" are being updated as HD videos, with premiering on Friday, July 2.
It Was Written was originally released on July 2, 1996. The album remains Nas' best-selling album. In related news, Nas appeared alongside JAY-Z in two recent tracks: "Bath Salts" and "Sorry Not Sorry," which appeared on DMX's Exodus album and DJ Khaled's Khaled Khaled album.
