An Outkast Gangsta Grillz Mixtape Almost Happened
The tape was supposed to happen before Outkast released Idlewild.
In a recent interview DJ Drama revealed that an Outkast Gangsta Grillz mixtape almost happened.
While speaking with Andrew Barber, Drama spoke about the tape and how it was supposed to happen before the Atlanta rap duo released Idlewild. However, since the duo couldn't do it, they instead gave Drama "The Art of Storytellin, Pt. 4" for his Gangsta Grillz album.

"They called me and were like, 'Listen, I know we were supposed to do a tape but we don't really have the time to do it...since we did agree to do it, how about we give you a record for your album?'" Drama recalled. "And I was like, 'Hell motherf**king yeah.'"
Drama also added that nothing was ever recorded for the tape.
Three years ago, Big Boi shared that Outkast and A Tribe Called Quest were working on a collab album titled A Tribe Called Kast.
"We were talking about doing a Tribe Called Kast album, with Outkast and A Tribe Called Quest. It was real. Not [just] a conversation," the rapper said. "Q-Tip flew to Atlanta, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, we all met at Dre’s house…We got to the point of picking out beats for the album. Then, some kind of way, everybody started doing [their own] stuff, and then Phife [died]. [But] it definitely was happening."
Andre 3000 had also previously talked about the album at Phife Dawg's memorial.
"I’m going to say some interesting news and some disappointing news at the same time. About a year or two ago, we were talking about doing a Tribe Called Quest and Outkast album. Yeah. For whatever reason, it did not happen," he said.
