The producer and rapper took to Instagram to address his thoughts on the matter.

Pete Rock has spoken out in defense of Michael Jackson. The late pop star's legacy has faced scrutiny since the release of the Leaving Neverland documentary on HBO. The documentary is centered on two men, James Safechuck and choreographer and Jackson's former backup dancer Wade Robson, who allege Jackson sexually abused them when they were children.

Rock took to Instagram to share an image of Jackson wearing regal attire. The picture was accompanied by a caption defending the late artist against the allegations made about him.

"A True King!!" he wrote in the caption. "Owned all dat music made you the king of the music industry. They mad at you! Your innocent but even in death they wont leave you alone. The Greatest artist/musician in the world. The King Michael Jackson RIP."

Although some comments have supported Rock's sentiment, others have disagreed.

"Stop getting emotional, stop being bias and think! Seperate the musician from the man! Michael Jackson the person was a weirdo and you f**king know it," one user wrote. "...All these kids that have had interactions with mj are f**ked up in the head! You celebrities need to come back to reality because this real life."

Since the release of Leaving Neverland, radio stations in New Zealand and Canada have pulled Jackson's music.
