It's a tragic day in hip-hop. Pop Smoke, the 20-year-old rapper best known for his hit singles "Welcome to the Party" and "Dior" was shot and killed in a home he was staying at in Beverly Hills, California. TMZ broke the story.
As the news filtered out, fans and artists responded with shock and sadness. Pop Smoke started rapping in 2018; his single "Welcome to the Party" dropped in the spring of 2019. He was only a year into his career. And things were only improving. His latest album, Welcome to the Woo 2, was released earlier in the month and debuted at No. 7 on Billboard's Top 200 chart.
He also had songs with Travis Scott and Bronx rapper Lil Tjay that were buzzing.
