In a recent interview on Good Morning, America (watch it below,) Kelly's lawyer, Steven Greenberg, maintained his client's innocence, claiming the singer never knowingly engaged in sexual acts with underage girls, and even went as far as stating that Aaliyah, the late r&b singer who was married to Kelly at age 15, lied about her age in order to go through with the marriage. Greenberg states that his client had no idea she was underage at the time of their union and cited Elvis' marriage to Priscilla as some sort of acceptable precedent.

Greenberg goes on to state that Kelly intends to file suit against Lifetime for defamation and that Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary, the two women currently staying with him at his Trump Tower residence in Chicago, are doing so of their own volition. According to The Chicago Tribune, Cook County police stopped by the residence to check on them and found no evidence of wrongdoing.
