The album is getting reissued in honor of its 40th anniversary.

Polydor will be reissuing Roy AyersLifeline on vinyl in August. The classic album, which is credited to the project Roy Ayers Ubiquity, featured the standout hit "Running Away," which has been sampled by a number of artists: A Tribe Called Quest, Common, and Big Daddy Kane. As Forbes points outLifeline became Ayers' third highest showing to date, with it peaking at No. 77 on the Billboard 200 album chart (1976's Everybody Loves The Sunshine, peaked at No. 51 while 1978's Let’s Do It peaked at No. 33). However, Lifeline lasted the longest of any of his albums on the Billboard 200, which enjoyed a twenty-five-week run.
