Aerosmith and the living members of Run-DMC reunited at the 2020 Grammys. The two legendary acts performed their 1986 classic "Walk This Way." (This was before Aerosmith performed their 1993 classic “Livin’ on the Edge.”)
Aerosmith was there because they were being honored with the MusiCares Person of the Year award. This is an award that recognizes their musical and philanthropic efforts.
During the performance, Run-DMC displayed Kobe Bryant's Los Angeles Lakers jersey. The basketball legend died earlier in the day after his helicopter crashed, killing eight other people, including his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.
There was some controversy coming into this performance. Aerosmith drummer and founding member Joey Kramer filed a lawsuit against his band. In the suit, he claimed that the band excluded him from rejoining the group after suffering a foot injury. A Massachusetts court ruled against Kramer on Wednesday and the band did their performance without the drummer.
"Walk this Way" is one of the most well-known songs in Aerosmith and Run-DMC's catalog. The song, which peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100, was featured on Run-DMC's classic Raising Hell album.
