On Wednesday, Sony Music announced a special treat for vinyl collectors, set to arrive this fall. For the first time, Grammy-winning band Sade will release a special-edition, remastered vinyl box set of the band's complete discography up to the present. The collection, titled This Far, was remastered by the group and engineer Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios in London.
The collection will feature Diamond Life, Promise, Stronger Than Pride, Love Deluxe, Lovers Rock, and Soldier of Love. A press release from Sony describes the in-studio remastering process.
"Revisiting the audio, the band and Miles Showell worked from high resolution digital transfers of the stereo master mixes, from the original studio recordings, remastered at half-speed using Miles' unique restored Neumann VMS80 cutting lathe, to perform the 12 sides of vinyl lacquer cuts. The elaborate, half-speed mastering process produced exceptionally clean and detailed audio whilst remaining faithful to the band's intended sound."
Over the years, the band has earned nine Grammy nominations, taking home four gilded gramophones in a span of four different decades. Their first, in 1985, was for Best New Artist. In 1993, they won Best R&B Performance for "No Ordinary Love." Eight years later, in 2001, Lovers Rock won Best Pop Vocal album. Soldier of Love took home the Best R&B Performance in 2010.
Each album in the box set will be pressed on pure 180-gram heavyweight vinyl. This Far is available for pre-order now on Amazon or the band's official site.
